The Subtitiling Department is located at our
Sinemaj site (see Map), where we have 5
laser subtitiling systems from three companies: IAI, CTM and Titro.
Total capacity is roughly 15 copies per day.
These new generation Laser Subtitling systems produce rock steady, clean
and easy to read subtitles.
The process of subtitling begins with transferring the translated text
onto computers linked to film edit desks. Here the synchronisation of
texts to film is checked by eye in what is known as "spotting".
The reel is then loaded on the subtitiling machine, and the text file,
now with timing information from the spotting, is transferred to it on
a floppy disk.
The laser system performs its frame by frame engraving duty and once that
is complete the reel is washed clean with plain water and ready for delivery.
